April 29th, 2008UncategorizedIt’s been two years! Mark and I had our anniversary a week ago today and I didn’t post about it. I thought about it on Thursday or something, but I’d already posted for the week, and so I didn’t. But, now that it’s posting time again I feel like I should write something.
I love Mark. He is so wonderful and it just keeps getting better. Sometimes when I think about how we found each other I am still amazed and thank Heavenly Father for His great blessing. Mark is always so thoughtful and surprises me with little things for special occasions, but for bigger gifts, I need to give hints. (This is because I like to be surprised. He just tells me what he wants because he doesn’t like them as much).
When he came home he had a beautiful bunch of brightly-colored spring flowers, 2 chocolates from Godiva, and my “real” present–The Wii Fit! (at least, the order receipt, it’s not out yet) Before anyone thinks he’s a mean husband for getting his wife an exercise thing (especially just after a baby) I asked for it. It’s the whole reason I said we could get the Wii in the first place. He was actually reluctant because he thought it might not be a good idea. I insisted it was just fine and I would tell people he wasn’t mean.
I love you honey!
And now, onto the title of the post: I had phone trauma. I’m now sporting a cute little BlackBerry Pearl in blue. I didn’t even realize I had misplaced my phone for a day and a half. I knew it was gone when Mark came home Wednesday night and said he’d made his nightly call on the way home from work, but I didn’t hear the phone. After some thinking, I realized it was either in our cousin Shannon’s car, or lost. This was kind of fortunate, because the phone I’ve been using for a few months was only meant to be temporary. It forced me to actually go get a phone I liked. I went on Thursday to look at the phones in person after pretty much deciding on the Pearl and got a good deal (free) if I changed my number to a local LA number, so I had to do it. Bye Bye 801, Hello 310. And, as soon as I got the phone I learned that the phone was actually in the car, so not lost after all. Now, we have it as a temporary phone for the future.
Brit is growing so fast–and getting bald. It is seriously traumatic for me. I look at pictures of him even a couple of weeks ago and I see that he’s lost so much.
I’m having a great time with him though. After coming back from Utah I noticed he picked up a bad habit of liking to be held all the time. Now, I do love holding him and I do try to hold him a lot, but I think he got used to it last week and wants it all the time now. But, he does one thing that is awesome–he falls asleep at night on his own. I wrap him up, lay him down and he goes to sleep. I have the best baby!
He also makes such funny expressions we just laugh at him. He’s looking around a lot now, reaching for things in front of him, and smiling all the time. He loves sitting up and has really good head control.

Hanging out…so sweet!

Precious little feet!

He’s getting chubby!

Learning to reach, loving the pictures!

Britton had quite a busy week in Utah. He was an angel at the airport and on the plane. He cried once, but as soon as I picked him up he just slept. It was really cold in Utah this week, so it was nice being able to dress him in his long-sleeved outfits he doesn’t get to wear in LA.
Perhaps the coolest thing of the week was Brit’s first real smile! He did it on Thursday morning when he and i were playing. He always smiles a few times when he’s falling asleep, but he was awake this time and did it in response to something. I got this pic. a couple of days later when I actually had the camera.

We saw my cousin Cassie and her baby Kaylee on Wednesday after we arrived. Kaylee and Britton are 10 months apart, so we had fun getting pictures of them together.

Friday Brit got to meet a lot of people…Great-Grandma and Grandpa came for a visit. I think Brit really enjoyed seeing them. And, he was finally able to fit the outfit he was supposed to come home from the hospital in.

Then, my good friend Melissa came over with her husband and super cute daughters. I’m really glad they were traveling through our area and could stop to visit. I haven’t seen them since Thanksgiving. Her daughter Hannah really liked looking at the baby. I thought I had pictures of the both of us together, but apparently that wasn’t my camera. I’ll put it up next post

Later that night we met up with one of my longest and best friends Charlene and her husband and three super cute boys. (I guess my friends either have boys or girls…not both) Brit slept the whole time, so we didn’t get a picture, but we’ll definitely get one next time.
My cousin Pam and her husband Kevin came down with their baby Spencer. He and Brit are only two weeks apart–Spencer is older, but he was born early so he’s a lot smaller.

On Saturday Aunt Teri and Uncle Craig came to visit and loved every minute. Later, we had dinner with some of my parents’ friends–hence, they’re mine too. Thanks Doug, Nancy, DJ, Kesley, Chelsey, Noah, Carli, Sean, Preston, Reece, Dave and Nancy for coming all the way out to American Fork to meet Brit. It was really good to see you.
My mom loved holding Brit, of course, and was a little reluctant to hand him over to everyone else who wanted to hold him too. But, he did like it when she held him and would often quite right down for her.

That’s in my little sister’s room–she has a thing for HSM

Sunday Brit had a lot of visitors too. Neighbors, aunts and uncles and cousins all came to meet him. He did really well with everyone holding him and didn’t seem to mind at all.
My sister Chezney was a little nervous with Brit at first, but by the end she was a pro. I considered hiding her in my luggage and having her comebe my nanny. She was very helpful.

Wow, how time flies. I can hardly believe Brit is already four weeks old. He is growing so quickly. I think we’re on our last package of newborn diapers before we switch to size 1. He’s probably 8.75 pounds by now. His little tummy is getting round and there are more rolls and creases on his legs, arms and neck. Baby acne showed up last week, so I’m hoping that clears up soon. In the morning it looks almost gone, but during the day it gets worse. I think the heat we’ve had has made it worse.
He made his church debut on Sunday. We made it to sacrament meeting and he was really good. I only had to take him out near the end. We had fun seeing everyone again, and getting their reactions to Brit.
We went down to Orange County to Auntie Pat and Uncle Ken’s house for dinner. Uncle Craig made an amazing meal–like he always does–and we had a nice visit. Brit does like to eat when everyone else does though. Seriously, he does it often. I try to feed him before dinner is ready, but he doesn’t want to. But, right when it’s time to sit down he decides he’s hungry. Such a silly boy.
We’ve been having fun playing and doing tummy time. He hated it at first, but does better now, and for longer periods.

He’s even sitting up on his own for a few minutes. He’s really strong–when he is on one of our chests we have to hold him because he pushes up so much we never know where he will launch himself.

Brit also lost his cord this week. He has a pretty cute belly button–it’s more of a U than an O, but we think that’ll change. Since there is no more cord, he was able to get a tub bath for the first time. He liked it, especially getting his hair washed. But, it was also harder than the sponge bath because the tub is really small, and he was a lot more slippery.

And, here are a couple of cute pictures just for fun.

This one was taken today.

This past week has been really full, and fun. First, Mark’s mom came to visit and had a great time with Britton. She was very helpful to both Mark and I too. Britton went to his first restaurant on Wednesday for Grandma’s birthday. He was an angel and slept the whole time. The waiter didn’t even know he was there. Sadly, Grandma had to leave on Friday morning.
Here is a picture of Brit with his Grandma.

Then, on Saturday morning we found out our good friends Ashley and Jason had their baby. Brit has another friend now. So, we went to visit the cute little guy (and his parents). Hudson was 7 1/2 pounds and 20 inches long. He has lots of blond hair and is really cute. Congrats you guys! Here’s Brit chillin’ with his bud Hudson.

My sister Shaela and Dad came early Saturday morning to visit for the weekend too. It was lots of fun having them here. Brit went on his first mall outing and did pretty well. He even went to his second restaurant. He slept mostly, but then all of a sudden it was major crying. But, once he got his diaper changed and fed, he was fine. I am not looking forward to taking him out and having to do these things by myself. It’s hard enough with someone helping me! I think we’ll ease into excursions with just the 2 of us.
He went to the doctor today and he weighs 8 lbs 4 oz. That’s 1.5 lbs in 2 weeks! He’s also grown to 21 inches–almost 2 inches since birth. Dr. Brown says it’s all normal and he’s a perfectly healthy baby. That’s good to hear. I try not to worry about things too much, but I did have a list of about 5 things to ask him about. They all checked out and he’s great!

April 1st, 2008BrittonIt’s hard to believe he’s 2 weeks old already. We’re getting into the swing of things in our house. His other grandma is here now, and falling in love with him too. She’s says she is going to have a hard time leaving too. He is definitely getting fed…I measured him today and he has grown more than an inch! I really hope my measuring was off or something. Plus, his cheeks have really filled out and he has a serious double chin! His hair is growing over his ears and getting longer in the back, but it is a bit lighter than when he was born; it isn’t black any more.
He is eating more now. Last night was the first time I fed him twice in the night…he ate every 3 hours instead of 4. And, today he’s been eating every 2 hours! He’s also decided to shorten the length of time he eats at each feeding, so maybe that has something to do with it.
We went to the grocery store with Grandma Karen yesterday, and it wasn’t too bad. He slept the whole time in his seat. I have to figure out how to put him in the cart so I can see over his seat! I got some advice today, so I’ll try it next time and see how it works.
A lot of people have said to call them when we’re ready for visitors…well take this as your invitation and just give us a call if you want to come by.
We’re also getting requests for more pictures. Here are a few….

We Love Brit’s O face. He likes to do it a lot. We can’t help but laugh every time.

These are the only nice pants he has that come close to fitting him, and they’re still big! Thanks Char, you’re a life saver!

I HAD to put this one in too….it’s just so funny!

This is my favorite position… I love it when he sleeps on me!

Sleeping angel!
