Britton also met his future in laws this weekend! (If the pictures aren’t on Mark’s camera they tend to get left out, and if I don’t have a picture reminding me of what I did, I forget) We stopped in Cedar City on our way back to Cali and visited my awesome friend Angie and her husband Bryan. It was so great to see her and her cute new house, and her growing belly! She’s having a girl, so we think Brit and Lexie should get married. I think he made a good impression on her folks too. I’m sure Lexie will be a wonderful girl, because Angie is so amazing. Since our first semester of college–when we successfully got Elvis to leave the building–to today we’ve been great friends. She’s seen me through some tough times, (though, looking back it was all pretty trivial) and I’m so excited for her to become a mommy too!

This has been quite the week! So much has happened that I considered making more than one post…but decided to just do one really long one. I’m sure only the die hards will make it to the end…

Brit had his first really long car ride on Thursday. We drove to Vegas and he slept the whole way! My dad got us a room at South Point because he’s was moving the next day. It’s new, so the rooms are still nice and it even smelled good in there! After a terrible night’s sleep–we forgot the travel bed in the car, and I didn’t want Brit to be in his car seat for 24 hours straight, so I put him in bed with us–we slowly got on the road Friday and made it up to Highland.

Here’s a picture of the pretty green mountains. I’ve also never seen the sagebrush such a pretty color of “sage” before.

My parents went out of their way and made everything look amazing. With the large number of people expected, they got a big white tent for the back yard! From the moment we arrived Brit was the object of everyone’s attention.

Saturday mark and I left Brit for the longest time ever and went to the temple. We hadn’t been in a while, and figured that since we had Grandma Sheri as a baby sitter, we’d seize the opportunity. The weather was a bit gray and cold in the morning, but it cleared up by the afternoon, so I’m sure we were blessed for going!

He looked adorable in his outfit, and I finished his blanket just in time. I wasn’t sure he’d need it, but he did! Mark did an amazing job with his blessing. And, he had about 15 people who participated. We really do have a lot of family–and great friends!

There are too many great pictures to post, but here are a few…

Finally, a shot of the entire adorable outfit…I’m not sure he’s loving it though.

Thank you so much to Grandma Sheri and Grandpa John for letting us have his blessing at their house, and especially thanks to mom for all of your hard work and great food. And, thanks to everyone else who brought food and helped set up. We really appreciate it and love you a lot!

If anyone would like a picture that we took that day, please let me know and i will email it over. We have a lot more than these! Visit our picture site.

That night we left the baby for the 2nd time in one day and went to see a movie–the first since he was born. Ironman is really good, and it was even better at only $7.75! What a bargain.

Sunday was pretty relaxing, but Mark’s mom did have to say goodbye to Brit, and she wasn’t very happy about it. Here’s a pic with Grandma Sheri and Grandma Karen

Brit hit another milestone this weekend–he actually grabbed the card out of my hand! He’s been swatting at things, and grabbing them, but this was the first time he actually got it hard enough to take it from me–and it’s not round and easy to hold.

He didn’t want to sleep on the way back to Cali, so he had a backseat rider all the way from St. George. Boy did he sleep well that night!

And, lastly, today he got his first shots! The doctor actually felt bad giving them to him, so I liked that. He did really well after ward too. He only cried for a minute, then fell asleep. He looks so cute with his Bugs Bunny Band-Aids.

    2 months, 1 week stats:

    Weight: 12.1 lbs (47%)

    Height: 23.75 in (69%)–Yay, he’s tall!

    Head: 15.5 (26%)–yes, a tiny little head

Stay tuned for next week and pictures from his first photo shoot!

Time has flown by. I can’t believe we’ve had our little guy with us for two months already. It seems like he’s been here forever, but at the same time, I can still remember what it was like without him.  I’m so happy to have him.

We’re having so much fun with him. I’ve had a busy week, and a couple of days we’ve been running errands or out during the day, or he’s been sleeping or something so we haven’t had a lot of “play” time…by the end of the day I feel like I really miss him and we sit and chat for a while before bed. I’m so grateful that I don’t have to work, because I don’t know what I’d do

I love these next pictures. He has changed so much since he was born, I can hardly believe it.

It’s started–the mommy guilt. I’ve gotten it. There are just so many things to do and not enough time to do them all how I’d like to.

Right now I’m trying to finish crocheting Britton’s blanket for his blessing, and it’s taking forever (I didn’t know what I was doing and picked a really easy, but time consuming pattern) and I’m trying to get things going on a new business, and take care of Brit at the same time…and they all have to be done at once.

Here’s where the guilt comes in. I’m trying to do these other things that are important and that I have to do, but then I feel like I’m doing enough with Brit. He could be sitting there happy with his toys, or just looking around, but I feel like I should be reading or singing to him or playing with him. Somehow doing all of the things the books tell you to do to stimulate a baby’s brain and development. Don’t get me wrong, I do play with him, and I take care of him when needs or wants something, but at the end of the day when I put him down to sleep I can’t help but thinking it isn’t enough. I’m sure I’ll feel this way for the rest of my life now, but it’s a new feeling that I’m not sure I like.

But, then there are the times that are so great and I am loving being a mom. Like, on Mother’s Day when Britton gave me a great gift–he only woke up once during the night, and slept in till 8! It was great. Mark was great too. He made me breakfast and insisted on doing all of the cooking and cleaning all day! He hates doing dishes, and we don’t have a washer, so this was a big deal. He “got” me a gift I really need/will enjoy too–a massage at the place of my choice. (I’ve been to a couple of places around, so he figured I could choose which one I wanted to go to.) It was a really nice an relaxing day. Thanks Mark for everything! Love you!

Britton is just getting bigger and is a lot of fun. He smiles and laughs all the time, and we really enjoy having him. He’s still really cute, and does cute things, but we haven’t gotten the camera out as often this past week, but, here are a couple of good ones.

We finally got him smiling…he does it all the time, but as soon as we get the camera out he stops.

I also love this one…Mark is such a good daddy. He loves taking care of Brit–and is really good at it. Mark is the one getting him to laugh and smile in the above pictures, but this is another activity they enjoy together:

At 7 weeks old today, Brit is so big. I think he weighs close to 11 pounds, but that could be a bit high (I’m hoping)

He went to his first movie yesterday with his friends. They were closely supervised though. He did really well and seemed to like it. It was a Mommy Movie, so the whole theater had moms with babies. It was nice that when he cried he was one of several others, though I still felt bad. Maybe Mark and I will have to take him to an adult movie (like Ironman) this weekend.

Here’s one for his Grandma Karen…he likes his dinosaur sleeper.
