August 13th, 2008UncategorizedNo, I’m not pregnant–Thank Heavens! And no, we don’t have a new pet either…
But, we do have a new brother-in-law as of last Friday. Mark’s sister got married to Andrew in Hawaii (wish we could’a been there). We hear it was a lovely morning beach wedding. Congratulations, and welcome to the family! They’re now enjoying a honeymoon on the Big Island at a resort we got through our time share, so we look forward to their reviews.
With the adorable boy, John, Mark’s sister Lori’s family adopted late last year, and little Brit in March Mark’s side of the family is really growing.
Our lives have been pretty boring the past week. We watched the amazingly beautiful Olympic Opening Ceremony and sat with jaws dropped at the ability the Chinese have to be so in sync, artistic and technically stunning. They used their resources well.
It’s been pretty cool having my favorite sports live in prime time, but it does get pretty late by the time the events are over. So, I’m happy the ones I care about–swimming and gymnastics–are almost over. Whenever I watch the gymnastics I remember my own attempts at the sport. I’m about a -50 on the natural ability scale. Not kidding. Watching swimming reminds me of the summer between 7th and 8th grade when I was on a swim team in Orem. I’ve been a “swimmer” since I was six months old, and always loved the water. I had a great time, but wasn’t that great at it, so I never did it again. Looking back it makes me wonder how much better I’d have been if I’d actually had GOGGLES for my races! I don’t know why I didn’t have them…no one told me I should I guess. But, that is one regret I have now. I get that way when I watch the theatre as well. Maybe someday I’ll be in a play again too.
Anyway–The USA is doing pretty well and way to go Michael Phelps on winning more gold medals than anyone ever!
Brit hasn’t started crawling yet like I predicted–I’m happy to be wrong–but he is still rolling all over and enjoys his tummy more. He’s also getting to love his rice cereal and cries when it’s gone.
For not a lot happening this week, I sure have a lot of pictures to show for it.
He sits up so well in his boppy now. I just love the next one. Mark was playing “where’s the baby”

He is such a sweetheart. I love it when he sleeps on me. He usually takes a night nap, but tonight he didn’t want to wake up from it. This is him after we’ve tried waking him…he just snuggled back up and slept.

This is an example of me being a bad mom. I was finishing something up before putting him to bed…and he fell asleep waiting for me. Poor guy.

He likes to sit next to Mark and look at his computer with him, but whenever I try to take a picture, this happens–he’ll only look at me.

Reading the mail…boy genius. Ok, he just really likes papers and catalogs recently.

Cute pictures! I love watching the Olympics, too, but it’s on sooo late here! I tried to stay up last night to watch the girls gymnastics and I feel asleep … it was after 1:00 am! That’s the one thing I don’t like living on the east – the time difference is not favorable and everything is on later! But yeah, I enjoy the Olympics. That opening ceremony was something to watch!
