I think I will soon regret it, but Brit is now eating veggies. He’s been eating his cereal for a few weeks and likes it pretty well, so I thought it might be time for his first taste of something else. So, last Thursday he tried sweet potatoes and LOVED them. There was no spitting out or weird faces. I just wanted to give him a little bit to see how it would do in his system, but he kept wanting more.

He did the same thing with the carrots 3 days later–and added crying when I took them away. I didn’t want him to eat a whole jar at once, though it’s probably only a couple of tablespoons, but he had other ideas. He started leaning toward the spoon after each bite waiting impatiently while I got more. Today, we tried peas. They’re the least great tasting of the three, so I wasn’t quite sure what he’d do. First bite? A little bit of a weird look. Second bite? Delicious. After a few bites I tried to put it away and he screamed. So, fine, a little more. Done? No way. Totally screaming. He likes this way better than his cereal. Good thing I give that to him first.

Last week we went to a music class and he loved it. He was smiling and looking around at the other babies and liking the songs. We got up and moved around and interacted with our kids, and others. The teacher is really great too. So, we’re deciding which class to do with him in the fall.

Also on Thursday my friend Angie had her baby Lexie. She’s super cute and looks like an angel. We can hardly wait to meet her.

And finally it happened. We knew it would come some day, and Friday was that day–Mark and I went out by ourselves! Brit was watched by someone other than G-Sheri. Our awesome friend Kristie offered to watch him while we went to see The Dark Knight. There was no way we could take him to see it, unless we wanted to miss half of it (well, me) because he’d be crying in his sleep or having nightmares for life. It was nice to just hang out for a little bit before, then see the movie and not have to worry about him. Brit had been having a hard day with few naps. He had a hard time getting to sleep for her too, but all in all he did really well. Thanks Kristie!

    Also,

Brit turned 5 months old on Monday, and thinks he’s a big boy. He has started scooting a little bit, or pushing off of things to get where he wants to go. And, he loves chillin’ in his chair.

And, he thinks he’s old enough to drink out of a cup. Not that we let him have water because he’s not old enough yet, but he still tries. And he’s pretty good at it too. Pictures of that next week. They’re not uploaded, and it’s way too late!

  • How big is the spoon you feed him with? It looked huge in the pics.

Sounds like you have a good eater on your hands. How wonderful! I’m sure there are many other parents out there that’d be jealous with how easy he’s eating the veggies.

  • i love the photos! I would always put cereal in with the veggies and fruits! It filled up the girls faster. They LOVED sweet potatoes.

  • He’s sure growing up fast and is still cute as ever! I’m glad Lexie has such a cute boyfriend! Can’t wait for the 2 of them to actually meet. :)
